VSJF – German Association for Social Science Research on Japan

The acronym VSJF consists of the initials of our German name “Vereinigung fuer sozialwissenschaftliche Japanforschung”.

The Association was founded in 1988 to provide a forum for the promotion and exchange of knowledge about politics, economics, society and culture of contemporary Japan in the German-speaking countries Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It is conceived as a forum for researchers and students from the fields of Japanese studies as well as from social sciences, including cultural studies. The association is a non-profit organisation without any political affiliations.
